This month's in-service was very informative and interesting. Hopefully there will be more like this to come.
Today's in-service was very informative. I liked the format and the presentation of material was clear and concise.
My two presenter for the Sexual Harassment Policies were fantastics. Mr. Botto and Mr. Morgan were very knowledge and were able to present this delicate subject matter in a very professional manner which allowed us to rethink how we talk or see Sexual Harrassment in our workplace and lives. Mr. Choiuunard and Mrs.Sullivan were great on the Student Confidentiality section. The brought to our attention many of the inherent dangers that are out their with Students records. Mr. Dick and Mrs. Corniellier were fantastic on school bullying. Having them bring their own past experience into the classroom was great so we could better grasp a problem that is on the rise in many urban High school. They were able to give us valuable insight on how to become more viligiant and corrective measures to help alleviate this problem if we see it in our High School. I feel that this was probably one of the best inserivice that we had so far this year.
The seminar was one of the important seminar which help us to learn and understand the concept of Bullying, confidentiality, and Sexual Harassment. The way this seminar was conducted was good. we need more seminar like this.
The in-service was informative and interesting. Tim Duby and Sue O'Hare-Black's sexual harassment presentation was great. The Confidentiality presentation was an eye-opener.
As always the in-service was interesting, informative and fun. Another great job Mike.
This format of presentation makes it more tolerable when reviewing subject matter that must be reviewed on a yearly basis. The moving around alleviates the difficulty of sitting in place too long, which seems to be worse for teachers than students (maybe not). I found the information fun and the general perception to be receptive.
January's in-service was very well done. I enjoy having shorter sessions with different presenters.
1. The bullying session made me think we need a more detailed action plan when we encounter this type of behavior.
2. The sexual harrassment session was informative but kept light by the Dube/O'Hare-Black team.
3. The confidentiality session really brought up some concerns regarding privacy. Open House is one area of concern and I look forward to how it will be handled in the future.
I found it to be informative as well as fun. Some of it was an eyeopener. The woman did a great presentation in the Lecture Hall. The HIPAA part was all about protecting the student's and the school What about the Teachers?
In some cases, I think the Teacher should be privledged to Healthe Information about students he or she may have, especially in a shop environment.
Informative and fun. The time certainly flew by and at the end of the day I felt I'd learned something that directly affects my professional interactions.
A difficult and complex topic was presented in an informative and effective way. Having the opportunity to move around alleviated the tedium that would have resulted from sitting in the Lecture Hall all afternoon. The presenters all did an excellent job, adapting and responding to their audiences. I also enjoyed the presenter in the afternoon. She was an excellent speaker, and expertly integrated humor into her very serious subject matter.
Yesterday's inservice shed some light on what we have to deal with every day as a teacher. As Dave Chouinard put it, "we should all get law degrees with the complexity of being a teacher in this day and age". Breaking up the sessions and moving around made it a more enjoyable inservice and I learned some more about how to interact with students who have a myriad of issues.
The topic of bullying is complex and deserves more time. We need to have time to discuss this topic, and be better prepared to deal with the incidents that occur in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, etc. I for one do not really know what I can and cannot do. Yesterday's presentation was an excellent beginning, but I would like more guidance on how to deal with students.
I thought yesterday's inservice was great. The presenters were knowledgeable and well prepared. The material was informative and somewhat entertaining. I also thought the representative from our wellness program was excellent. Her presentation really summed up the days "lessons" and was delivered extrememly well.
We continue to improve the school. Today's inservice was inforative, and showed the need to continue to change what we do here atthe school. The 35 year old traditions need to change. We can't say and do what we have done in the past. Educational reform has changed what and how we teach. Legal issues like harrassment change what we do in the entire school. I liked how the groups were from every corner of the building. Hopefully, everyone realizes how we must all work as a team to make the school better and to make it a better place to be, so that we can continue to improve scores.
I think the in-service was very informative and interesting. The format and the presenters did an outstanding job.
I really enjoyed this in-service. I felt like I actually learned something that directly affects me as a teacher. Also, I liked the format of the day. It kept you going instead of just sitting in one spot. I alos thought the speaker at the end of the day was interesting.
Good job to the presenters, I thought they were very well prepared and interesting!
It was a well presented and informative workshop day!
Yesterday's in-service was highlighted in the afternoon by a great informative speaker. I think she did a tremendous job trying to fit a 60 minute presentation into a 30 minute time frame.
It can be very confusing trying to determine if a situation is considered harrassment or bullying and to what degree. As teachers we need more information on
harrassment and bullying in order to deal effectively when these situations arise. It was helpful to watch the video clips on procedures one should follow when witnessing a bullying incident.I wonder if we can get a handout on these suggested procedures?
I feel yesterdays in-service was very weel done. All 3 sessions were well presented and the guest speaker did a great job with the time she had. I really feel that more sessions dealing with these topics are needed in the future.
The in service was great very informative as well as interesting...but like everything in life unless you take action or corrective measures too ensure its success it is just lip service
A very informative day! I look forward to some changes coming for Open House. Hopefully we can use all these tools to better serve our students!
I thought all the presentations were informative. The outside guest speaker presented the material in a very clear concise manner. I found receiving the information from a variety of different people enjoyable.
The in-service was very informative. Each presenter explained themselves thoroughly and answered all questions very well. I would have to say that Tim Dube and Susan O'Hare-Black did an exceptional job. They made the presentation fun and very enjoyable.
The in service was well thought out and organized. Being able to "travel" helps allievate boredom, tiredness, etc. All of the presentations were informtive. The final presentation in the lecture hall was extremely well done. The speaker was engaging, humorous and knowledgable.
Bravo!!! to another great in-service workshop. Presenters were excellent, movies and discussions were informative. Bullying concepts brought up issues to be aware of. Sometimes we have to be reminded and more aware of the seriousness of bullying. Guest speakeron Sexual Harassment was terrific.
Another successful day! Thanks Mr. Barton and your team for another job well-done!
Very well done. I really enjoyed this days events. It was informative and humorous!
Yesterdays In-Service was very enlightening. It was unfortunate that the speaker for the Wellness Corp. had to be rushed as she was extremely informative. All of my presenters did a great job! I appreciate the fact that support staff was included for we are often overlooked, even though we are also faced with the same issues as Teachers and Administrators. If you could just hire someone to due our work while we attend it would be perfect!
This was very informative. At times the In-services are boring, this was lively and exciting. I like learning about things I haven't reviewed in some time. I had taken a class on personal rights before and this was right on the money. The presenters were very good! Good job!
I thought the In-service was very informative and thorough. The presenters were very good. The woman from the Wellness Corporation did an excellent job.
All of the topics, Sexual Harassment, Confidentiality, and Bullying were well covered and presented. The speaker at the end of the day was excellent.
Guest speaker was informative and
interesting.
I enjoyed the last speaker and thought more of her would have been better.Talking about the different scenarios was thought provoking. I do think sometimes we are to talkative about student info. The videos were good.
Having been in education for more than just a couple of years I found this to be a good review on all 3 topicc; bullying, confidentiality and sexual harrasment. Tim Daly and Susan O'Hare-Black did an exceptional job with their presentation and are to be commended!
The three presentations were eye-opening! I especially liked the Dube/O'Hare video!! Thanks.
Very helpful and informative workshop.
Martha's presentation was excellent!
Susan and Tim's acting was "Oscar" worthy...nice job.
To Kevin...congrats on finally hitting the attendance drawing!
Who comes up with these ideas? Kudos to whomever was in charge of this one. It is important that all teachers and school staff understand the severty of these issues of harassment, bullying and confidentiality. The guest speaker was awesome! I would have enjoyed more of her stories.
The in-service was very informative. All the presenters did an excellent job and the guest speaker was great. Good information was delivered by all.
Well what do you know, old dogs can learn new tricks.
The in-service was a good review of all three topics. The presenters were well prepared and did a good job with their respective subject. The afternoon presentation was great.
program was good review also food for thought, presenters did a good job, speaker was good
I thought have the guest speaker (although she was quite dynamic was a waste of time. The material was redundant. We had already heard the information in the 2 earlier sessions
I liked the in-service very much. The subject matter can be a very delicate topic. Our presenters were wonderful. At least they brought some humor to a very difficult problem in our society. The key point was that a "reasonable person" may find behaviors, remarks, etc. offensive. If only the students could grasp this concept, we would be able to teach them in order for them to become successful, contributing members of society.
The in-serice was informative. All of the presenters did an excellent job. It was a nice review of the laws for confidentiality, bullying and harrassment.
I think it is unfortunate that it is a legal obligation to show this every year, the majority of people know this stuff inside and out. Maybe a refresher every few years with a memo every year, and all newbies have to go through full training their first year.
Besides that, it was well done anyway, with all presenters professional as usual, and the Ms. Deering in the lecture hall was excellent.
All of Wednesday's inservices were valuable and informative. Since then, my notice of student language and has been heightened. All day long I hear students using racist, sexist, and homophobic language. Maybe we need to conduct these same lessons for them. Maybe we can stem the tide of what I see as a constant atmosphere of harrassment that is only mitigated by the passive acceptance of the victims
The inservice was necessary, flowing and painless. It's actually good to deal with human issues inherent to the job we do.
The inservice was very informative. All six presenters did a fantastic job presenting their material. The afternoon guest speaker was great. I would have liked to have heard more from her. The format was well done. The group I traveled with seemed to enjoy moving around rather than sit in the lecture hall for 3 hours. Well done!
I found the in-service on bullying, confidentiality and sexual harrassment informative and a reminder of how we need to maintain our professionalism at all times.
Great in-service providing much needed information. The guest speaker was informative as well as entertaining......hard to come by!
The topics were very relevant, the presentations were well-done, and the Wellness Corp. rep was great.
To whom it may concern,
This recent in-service moved me, and it did give me some ideas on how we can make greater lowell a better place.
But we all need to maintain our professionalism, and treat everyone with kindness and respect.
I liked having the opportunity to move from room to room for each workshop. It was nice to listen to several groups of people presenting rather than staying in the same place.

The inservice was very informative. The afternoon speaker from EAP was great. I would have liked to have heard more from her. I would like to suggest that we start the year off with the same inservice, but allow the EAP speaker a full hour or more. The format was well done. The group I traveled with seemed to enjoy moving around rather than sit in the lecture hall for 3 hours.
In service was informative and very well run , short concise presentations covering pertinent material. Bullying is a topic that is way overdue for addresssing in our system, and cyber bullying is something that will need to be looked at more. Confidentiality issues may require us to look at how we run our open house.... and sexual harassment issues are more common than many people realize. All were excellent topics for the day. Kudos to all involved.
The in-service on Wednesday was very good. Thankyou to all that presented a session. It is a difficult topic to get across to some people (kids and adults) I got some ideas on ways to handle situations. Thanks
The in-service topics were very timely and informative. It's too bad that the EAP presenter didn't have more time to present her information.
I thought it was a very good introductory program. I think a workshop for each of the three Civil Rights areas: Confidentiality, Harassment and Bullying would be helpful in coming up with some specific ideas
from workshop participants as to how GLTHS can be more proactive in recognizing, reacting and resolving situations like those that were depicted in the training.
I was a presenter at the in-service on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. I felt the 30 minute sessions was most appropriate for presenting this type of information.
The presenters i had were very good with their information delivery and got the point across very well. I think the bullying aspect was very informative considering the size of the building and the student population i believe we have a pretty good handle on these issues. To help the students and parents better understand our policies and procedures it would be nice to have the parents actually sit down and read the student hand book, there is an incredible amount of information within it.Arty Cornellier
The in-service was well done. The material discused was a great reminder of what we face every day , BUT, be aware of what you SAY!!!!! Remember, IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE!!!!
Great in-service. It helped to reaffirm the importance of carefully choosing the words we speak as we no longer know how it will be interpreted or possibly misinterepreted.
